Sorry to those who like this series, but it’s just not working for me to do it weekly. So Sounds of Korea will still be around, but only when I actually have an interesting sound to share.

This is the recorded announcement played from a fruit seller’s truck that moves down the main street in my neighborhood, stopping in different places. They must have been selling Mandarin oranges for 5000 Won, because 귤 (gyool) means Mandarin orange and 오천원 (ocheon won) means 5000 Won.

I heard this performance of a folk song at Gimpo Farmer’s Day.
Perhaps the most surprising thing about this voice is that it was coming from the little girl in the hanbok (Korean traditional dress) on the right of this picture.

This should be named Sounds (and Sights) of Korea, really. Because this week, due to a lack of time to process audio, I’m instead going to post this video of our visit to Changgyeonggung, the palace with far too many g’s. This video is basically Jeff walking to the palace and giving some commentary. Hope you enjoy it!
I have two more videos from Changgyeonggung which will make up the next two weeks.
Did you like this video? Do you prefer audio or video, or do you want a little of both?

Moon Pasta near Incheon City Hall is a delicious Italian restaurant. They have really good pesto for 11,000 Won. They also have some great poetry on the walls. I recorded a poem that they had up for you.

When we went to Munhak Stadium for the Incheon Food Festival, there was also a baseball game going on – SK Wyverns versus Kia Tigers. The cheering was nice and rowdy, so I recorded it.

We walked around Insadong, a cool area of Seoul, a bunch on October 22nd. There is a musical instrument market near exit 5 of the Jongno-sam-ga Station. I’d recommend a walk through! This is what it sounds like.
